Snowshoeing in Val di Zoldo
Even less sporty tourists have discovered the pleasure of winter hiking thanks to the snowshoes. Snowshoes were invented in Canada a long time ago, they were used by the Redskins to hunt, also by the nomads of the Arctic areas to move, and by mountaineers of the Alps to collect wood in forests or transport the hay in the valley.

The old wooden snowshoes with rope ties have been replaced by modern and light models, made of metal and plastic, which are connected to regular mountain boots. It is easy to learn using snowshoes, even children and the elderly are fascinated by this sport. In Val di Zoldo, there are many routes where the alpine guides teach you how to take your first steps with snowshoes or lead the most experienced ones on the tracks around Mount Pelmo, at the foot of Mount Civetta or through the woods of the valley.

Remember:

  • paths marked but not checked.
  • an adequate physical preparation and specific knowledge are required to face the snowy mountain environment.
  • it is advisable always to consult the snow/avalanche bulletins and to inquire about the accessibility of the paths with the alpine guides. # it is advisable always to carry ARTVA (Avalanche Transceiver), SHOVEL, PROBE and be prepared for their use # if you do not feel adequately prepared, go with an alpine guide
